Outdoor Leadership Trainings
Members provide a host of experiential, skills-based trainings for teachers and youth workers in their regions so they are empowered to take youth outdoors on their own. For every adult trained, 20+ youth get a chance to experience the power of nature. For many young people, this is the first time they’ll see the Milky Way, hear a rushing waterfall, or experience an environment free of the urban cacophony of horns, sirens, and cell phones. Nature-based experiences change lives.
Our Members offer a comprehensive selection of trainings for teachers and youth workers covering topics from day-hiking and basic car-camping to wilderness first-aid and advanced backcountry skills. Training participants come from a range of backgrounds and experiences, some have never hiked while others are experienced campers, and though each member’s training is unique, they all focus on empowering youth workers and teachers to keep their kids safe, warm and dry in the outdoors. Once trained, leaders have access to OEN member gear libraries to borrow the gear they need for their trips into nature.
